Maureen O'Hara Biography

 Maureen O'Hara was a renowned American performer and actress of Irish origin. Her fiery, passionate performances she played in a myriad of American films were well-loved by the beautiful green-eyed beauty sporting flame-colored hair and eyes. Her stunning appearance and natural beauty were well-received. She was known in Hollywood as the "Queen of Technicolor". The roles she played on screen reflect her brave, strong spirit. She was determined to be recognized and survival in a male-dominated society. She described herself as "the tough Irish lass" and she would not give up her respect for others to obtain the roles she was entitled to due to merit. She stood up for injustices and unjust treatment of female actors during her film career, and gained lots of admirers. The autobiography of her, "Tis Herself", was published in 2004. The book was an honest and transparent account of her life, including the struggles she faced as she climbed the ladder to success. She was an adventurous woman who didn't fear doing herself stunts. She was a part of more than 60 films and was a popular actor across the world. She was remarried in 1968 to Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former pilot brigadier and chief who was a pioneer in transatlantic aviation. O'Hara eventually retired after couple of years of marriage. Blair died tragically in an airplane crash in 1978, ending her happiness. The same year, she was diagnosed with uterine carcinoma and required surgery immediately. She was able to recover. In the following years her health was declining and she experienced six heart attacks, short-term memory loss as well as diabetes mellitus type 2. On the 24th of October, 2015, O'Hara died peacefully in Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at the age of 95.
