Mary-Louise Parker

Mary-Louise Parker (born August 2 1964) is an American actress. After making her Broadway debut as Rita in Craig Lucas's Prelude to a Kiss in 1990 (for which she was awarded an Tony Award nomination), Parker gained notoriety for roles in films such as Grand Canyon (1991), Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), The Client (1994), Bullets over Broadway (1994), A Place for Annie (1994), Boys on the Side (1995), The Portrait of a Lady (1996) as well as The Maker (1997). Parker won the 2001 Tony Award as Best Actress in an independent film for her role in David Auburn's Proof of Catherine Llewellyn. Between 2001 and 2006, she recurred in the role of Amy Gardner in the NBC television series The West Wing, for which she was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the Drama Series in 2002. For her performance as Harper Pitt in the HBO miniseries Angels in America, she won the Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award. She also won an award for her performance in the series, a Primetime Emmy Award and a Primetime Emmy Award. In 2006, Parker was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. In 2007 Parker was nominated for three times for The Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She also was awarded the Golden Globe Award in 2006 for Best Actress in Red (2010) and R. (2013) as well as Red 2 (2012). Parker returned to Broadway to perform in The Sound Inside in 2019 and won her second Tony Award as Best Actress in a Play. Parker has been writing articles for Esquire magazine since 2007. The magazine also published Dear Mr. You in 2015. She appeared in the ABC miniseries, When We Rise, as Roma Guy. In 2018, she appeared as a political advisor on the series Billions on Showtime.
