Rosamund Pike
Born in
London, England in 1979, Rosamund Mary Elizabeth Pike was the sole child of
Caroline (Friend), mother of a classical violinist, and Julian Pike, an opera
father of a singer. Because of their work, she spent in her early years traveling
throughout Europe. Pike attended Badminton School in Bristol, England and began
acting at the National Youth Theatre. While appearing in a National Youth
Theatre production of "Romeo and Juliet", she was first spotted and
contracted by an agent. However, she continued her education in Wadham College,
Oxford, where she read English Literature, eventually graduating with an upper
second grade distinction degree.Pike was a part of a variety of UK TV series
such as Wives and Daughters (1999) and then made her movie debut as the
stunning beauty "Miranda Frost" in the James Bond film, Die Another
Day (2002); When the film came out it was released at just 23. While her debut
film was a huge-budget action movie, her film performances were mostly in
smaller independent films such as Promised Land (2004) and The Libertine
(2004). She won the Best Supporting Actress Award at The British Independent
Film Awards for this film. Pride & Prejudice (2005) was her first
feature film. After a brief time in Hollywood, Doom (2005) and Fracture (2006),
she returned to film with impressive performances in three lesser films. She
was also in Johnny English Reborn (2011) as well as the sci-fi thriller Wrath
of the Titans (2012). She was back in action films as the female lead alongside
Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher (2012).
