Watts was born 28 September 1968. Following the move of her family to Australia
in the early 1980s, Watts made her film film debut with For Love Alone (1986).
Later, she was a part of three television shows, Hey Dad.. (1990) The Brides of
Christ(91), and Home and Away (91) and Flirting (1991). Watts relocated to
America in 2000. She was initially struggling as an actor. In reality she was
able to play tiny roles in films, before becoming an aspiring actress in David
Lynch's Mulholland Drive psychological thriller. She rose to international fame
through this part. Watts played the role of an unmotivated journalist in The
Ring, a horror film that was made into a remake. In her role as grieving mother
in the Alejandro film 21 Grams, she was nominated for the Academy Award for
Best Actress. She continued to rise to fame with her the roles in I Heart
Huckabees (2004) and King Kong (2005) as also Eastern Promises (2007) and The
International (2009). Watts was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress
for her role in The Impossible (2012) as Maria Bennett. In the 2010s, she
starred in such films such as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014), While We're
Young (2015), The Glass Castle (2017) as well as Luce (2019). Watts also continued
to appear in blockbusters, with appearances in the Divergent franchise
(2015-2016).
