Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was TV personality and former chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and in the past, she taught cooking. Burrell hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. The spiky blond hair and pumped-up appearance, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of food in restaurants and shares simple, easy-to-master recipes to the home cook in her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell also has worked in many of New York's best establishments, studied Italian food along with its traditional recipes, and competed in Food Network Iron Chef America. As a child in the upper reaches of New York area, Chef Burrell discovered a love for cooking and food from a young age. After receiving an English and Communication degree from Canisius College in Buffalo NY she started to pursue her passion for the industry of restaurants by enrolling as a student at The Culinary Institute of America. The student says "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute Of America student. I was awed by every minute." It was hard to study and do enough or put in the hours. After graduating, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany and La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) and attended an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. She gained a deeper understanding of Italian food and culture throughout her time in Italy, which has influenced her style of cooking. Burrell is a celebrity ambassador in the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She has served on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board, which helps children with obstacles. In her role as a speaker, Burrell goes on a tour across the United States to share her passion for food and her culinary career. Through the course of her cooking career, Anne has said, "I feel blessed to be able to share my true passion within my life with other people.
